COUNTY council highway engineers have announced details of £125,000 worth of road safety and highway improvement projects in Wisbech.

Work is expected to start on March 18 to resurface Lynn Road, from Townsend Road to Tinkers Drove. Contractors will also carry out kerb repairs and carriageway work near Freedom Bridge roundabout.

Engineers will close the road on three consecutive Sundays to allow the work to be carried out at a cost of £50,000. A signed diversion will direct drivers via the A1101 and A47.

Road closures will also be imposed on Norwich Road and Kirkgate Street, Wisbech, over a four-week period, while traffic calming measures are replaced and road repairs carried out at a cost of £75,000. Work will start on March 19.

Drivers are being asked to find alternative routes or allow extra time.
