Residents at Hickathrift House in Marshland St James enjoyed a trip back in time when they hosted their 1940s day.
Residents and staff got involved with the spirit of the theme and dressed in various 1940’s wear including military uniforms and land-workers attire. In the morning everyone settled down to watch ‘Casablanca’ on the projector while the general manager Jackalynne Shields gave out old fashioned sweets in brown paper bags and popcorn.
In the afternoon there was a 1940’s entertainer who got everyone up on their feet.
She said: “This has been a huge amount of fun and it sparked a lot of memories for residents to talk about.
“Everyone is already talking about what era we can do next.”
A resident at the home said: “It was good to see all the staff up and dancing with the residents.
“It was really nice. I can’t wait for the next one, I hope it’s the 1960’s or 70’s.”
