Staff and children at Anthony Curton Primary School in Walpole St Peter and their partnership school, Tilney All Saints Primary, paid their respects to the fallen.

They joined members of the local community at the war memorial at Walpole St Peter’s Church and Tilney All Saints Church respectively, to observe the two minute silence today (the last Friday of school before November 11).

During the memorial services, children from Year 6 read favourite war poems and led prayers of remembrance.

George Fenn read the Exhortation and a special wreath of remembrance depicting a soldier standing, head bowed at a cross, was laid by children in Year 4 from Anthony Curton.

Jeremy Wilkinson, Year 6 teacher and executive deputy headteacher, led the service at Walpole St Peter, while Dawn Liddle, executive headteacher, took charge of the service at Tilney.

Miss Liddle said: “We are so proud of the respectful and dignified way the children responded to the occasion.

“It was a genuinely moving experience for all of us, and it is so important we never forget the sacrifice so many have made, and are still making, for the sake of peace.

“The two minute silence was observed immaculately, even by our youngest children, and we are so proud of them all.”
