A charity fun day held in Wisbech on Saturday was a real family affair.

The event held at the Rosmini Centre was organised by Andrew Veal and his family in memory of his mum Susan, who died from lung cancer in 2012 after an eight month battle with the disease.

He was helped by his sisters Emma Veal and Amanda Beaumont and his dad David Veal.

The afternoon of fun included warzone laser combat games, a car boot stall, bouncy castle and face painting and raised nearly £430 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Mr Veal explained the family wanted to do something for the charity to say thank-you for the excellent care they gave Mrs Veal during her illness.

There will be live music, a bouncy castle, refreshments stall, car boot sale, warzone lazer combat games and more.

“Macmillan Cancer Support is very close to my heart as the day centre in Wisbech took excellent care of my mum. We were really pleased with the support we had on Saturday and are grateful to everyone who donated a prize. We are now planning to make it an annual event and are looking to hold it around mum’s birthday, May 25, next year,” said Mr Veal, of Redwing Drive.
