A renovated children’s playground officially re-opened at The Queen Mary Centre in Wisbech during the Rose Fair on Saturday (July 7).
The centre, managed by The Ferry Project, saw around 100 children have a go on the new facility after watching the parade go through town.
A spokesman said: “The Red Hat ladies took the opportunity to sail the seas in style, whilst enjoying the weather and a few refreshments.
“Once an overgrown, underused area, a wealth of local companies, funders and community groups supported the transformation.
“Barhale took the place to completion, by donating time and expertise ready for the grand opening, along with the initial support from People and Animals UK.”
One Wisbech resident said: “What an improvement. The space looks so much better now and can be enjoyed by everyone. Fantastic.”
The play area is available for all the community to use with the aim of helping to support childrens’ development whilst engaging in creative play and improving the local facilities.
