PUPILS at a Wisbech school enjoyed the chance to see Shakespeare, through support from a building society.

The Norwich and Peterborough Building Society's Wisbech branch covered costs for tickets and travel for Year 6 pupils at Elm Road Primary School, to watch The Tempest at the Broadway Theatre in Peterborough as part of their study of the play.

It came after Jane Laws, secretary of Elm Road School, contacted the society's to see if they could help with a donation.

Mrs Laws said: "We were so thrilled when staff offered their support, we wouldn't have been able to do it without them.

"The trip will really help the children's knowledge. Seeing it on stage will be perfect to really show the children what the play is about."

Mrs Young added: "I think it's a great idea for the pupils to be able to see the play performed on stage. It'll help them understand it much better. I'm really pleased that we have been able help.
