A group of Wisbech parents and pupils are looking to tackle bad driving and parking in the town by kick-starting a new campaign.
The Walk With Me Campaign, made up of residents of Colvile Road and Trafford Road, pupils of Clarkson Infants and Nursery School and St Peter’s Junior School and parents, came together in an attempt to reduce the number of cars on the road during before and after school.
“Some road users are using excessive speed on the approach to school,” said Emma Brenna, one of those behind the initiative.
“Our aim is or raise awareness of the dangers of driving and parking near the schools, while at the same time creating initiatives to encourage the children to walk to and from school every day.”
The group recently held a competition which invited youngsters to design its logo and the winner was Hannah Key, who will see her design displayed on four entrances at the schools.
The group also received 300 high-visibility jackets donated by Norwich firm, GB Diggers.
