Prolific street drinkers have been targeted in a campaign organised by the Wisbech Alcohol Project.
Council officials and workers from the Cambridgeshire Drug and Alcohol team carried out early morning and afternoon patrols.
They were able to “engage with eight individuals during the morning patrol and seven during the afternoon session,” says a report to councillors.
The report added: “The engagement session has allowed for additional future ‘recovery walks’ to be introduced in Wisbech” Workers and the charity group Sun Network will conduct monthly patrols in the town to focus on street drinking.
“This is a first for Fenland comes after much work through the alcohol project partnership and associated action plan,” says the report.
