A 13-year-old boy who saved for eight months to buy a £600 Suzuki off road bike was badly beaten and robbed in Wisbech just three days after buying it.
His mother said her son was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital with severe bruising, shock, broken ribs and two loose teeth. “My son was punched in the face, and then kicked in his ribs upon falling to the ground,” she said.
Detectives are now hunting the assailants, thought to be two men aged between 20 to 25. The attack happened near the Thomas Clarkson Academy (TCA) on Corporation Road at 4.45pm on Sunday.
The mother said her son had saved pocket money to buy the off road bike. She said he went out of the house and pushed the bike around Railway Road, Queens Road and Weasenham Lane before the attack happened.
She said when they were near the TCA two men started to walk towards her son.
“They kicked him, punched him in the face and ran over him with his own bike,” she said. “Details of what happened are slowly coming back to him.”
She said when her son was found on the pavement “he was still conscious but panicking, crying, screaming and bleeding from the mouth.”
He was treated at hospital but allowed home: his mother said he would return to school later in the week.
A police spokesman said: “If you were in that area at approximately 16:45hrs on Sunday January 22, or have seen a bike matching that description please call 101 in confidence and quote CF0037860117, or call crime stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
The boy’s mother said: “The police are involved and are searching for the two men but if anyone has seen this bike please contact the police as soon as possible as this is a matter of urgency for our family.”
