POLICE are seeking witnesses to a street attack in Wisbech, in which two men kicked and punched another to the ground after he said he didn't have any cigarettes.

The attacked happened at 12.45am on January 12 in Norfolk Street. The victim was kicked and thumped until he was on the ground, and then kicked in the groin and upper body, after he told a woman with the two attackers that he could not give her a cigarette because he did not have any.

The attackers left the scene in a pizza delivery car. The victim was treated at the scene by ambulance staff.

PC Nick Cottrell, who is investigating the assault, said: "This was a vicious and unprovoked attack, and we are determined to apprehend the offenders."
