SUSPECTED raiders fled from a Wisbech scrapyard as a police helicopter was called in to hunt them down.

Two 23-year-old men and three men aged 21, 30 and 32 were later arrested on suspicion of metal theft following reports of suspicious activity at the Osbourne Road site at 1am today (Tuesday, March 6).

Police were called to the premises after a group of men were seen in the yard but the men fled from the scene.

“The force helicopter was called in to assist with the search and five men were arrested a short time later,” a police spokesman said.

The men, all from Birmingham, were taken to custody at King’s Lynn.
