A MAN was beaten and robbed in Wisbech.

The robbery took place in Old Market between 9.45pm and 10.30pm on Friday December 11.

The 28-year-old victim was approached by two men who demanded money.

The victim refused and was then assaulted by both men before handing over £40. One man then also took his mobile phone.

Both men are described as white, aged between 28 and 35 and spoke with foreign accents.

One man was over six foot with short dark hair. He wore a black half-length leather jacked with long sleeves. The other man had a medium build.

Detective Sergeant David Simpson said: "The victim has been left with some nasty injuries following this robbery, which required hospital treatment.

"I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area of Old Market on Friday night, or anyone who saw two men matching the description of the offenders."

Anyone with information is asked to contact DS Simpson at Wisbech Police Station on 0345 456 456 4 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
