PARTYING pensioners enjoyed a trip down memory lane when they went back to school for a ‘spring fling’, listening to music from the 1940s before tucking into a tasty tea.

Sixty one guests attended the third annual party for the elderly at Wisbech Grammar School, playing a game of bingo and being entertained by the school’s swing band.

Year 11 pupil Christian Alecock acted as caller for the bingo, and students from year 11 and the sixth form acted as hosts at each table.

The guests came from Wisbech St Mary Good Companions Club, and King John House, Edina Court and Magazine Lane in Wisbech. The tea included cakes made by year seven and eight pupils, and scones made by the school’s head of food and nutrition, Mrs Alison Sloan.

Community service coordinator Miss Jan Wildman said: “We were delighted to have so many guests who thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon with us. I was very pleased with the pupil volunteers who prepared the party and entertained the pensioners at the tables.”
