The children, aged six and seven, met up with members of The Ford Y & C Model Register in Wisbech Market Square to have a close look at their old Ford cars.

The club has small Ford cars from the mid-1930’s (now all 80-years-old) and was on a week-long tour around the Fens.

Leonie Goodale, class teacher, said: “Twenty-five cars were displayed in Market Square and created a memorable spectacle for the public and the pupils of Peckover.

“The club members gave pupils a close look at the cars and explained about life and travel 80 years ago.

“As a finale the group were treated to some 1930’ entertainment and joined in singing popular stage songs.”

Esther Fletcher, teacher, said: “They were still singing all the way back to school.

“We guess that was a good sign that they had enjoyed the visit and seeing the old cars.”
