A CARE worker is desperate for information after his car and valuable books were stolen from outside his home on Monday evening.

Former Neale-Wade Community College teacher Mike Lynne found his dark grey Volkswagen TD Estate had been taken from his front driveway at Fen Road, Parson Drove, between 6-6.30pm.

The 70-year-old, who has two metal hips after injuries caused from his career as a professional footballer with Preston North End, said: "I'd been out in my back garden for about 20 minutes. I walked around to the front of my house and saw the car was gone. The front door of my house and the key was left on the side so I guess whoever did this saw there was nobody in the house and took their opportunity."

Mr Lynne now works as a part-time care worker, coaching sport and teaching life and social skills 11 to 16-year-olds and his car contained several books that he uses for this.

He said: "These books are really expensive and not easy to get hold of. The car also contained DVLA papers and several important personal documents that I'm desperate to recover."

n Anyone with information should contact Cambridgeshire police on 0845 45645564 or Mr Lynne on 01945 700069.
