Here are some ideas of what you could do this weekend, and hopefully few of the events will break your budget.

The list has been compiled by Neale-Wade Community College student DAVID MILLS, on work experience at the Cambs Times/Wisbech Standard. It's his top 10 tips for an enjoyable weekend.

• WISBECH Lions Club hopes the town will go quackers on Sunday in its bid to raise money for schools.

The River Nene will turn yellow for a duck race between the Freedom and Town Bridges.

Tomorrow (Saturday), shoppers can buy a duck to race for �1 when club members will be in the Horsefair Shopping Centre.

The race is at 5pm on Sunday with the winner receiving �200 and the runner-up �50.

• POP to St Neots tomorrow for a change of scene, perhaps, and stock up for the weekend with the farmers' market in the town square from 9am-1pm.

• ON Monday it's the annual Soham carnival and heavy horse show, with events all day. They include a vintage and classic car show and the Glenmoristan Pipe band performance.

• AT Welney Wetland Centre this weekend, there is the Jane Frost Willow Workshop from 10am-4pm.

The work shops are suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience. For more information visit www.wwt.org.uk.

• CAMBRIDGE Gliding Centre hosts the 2009 Vintage Gliding Club Rally, from Saturday. It lasts a week and takes place at Grandsen Lodge airfield.

The airfield is on the B1046 between Long Stow and Little Grandsen. Large scale vintage model aircraft will be flown and displayed this weekend.

• ALSO in Cambridge, you could try the Heart of the World Festival: A Month in Africa. The festival is a celebration of music and culture from Africa.

It takes place in venues across Cambridge, such as Fitzwilliam Museum and the Portland Arms.

• A PHOTOGRAPHY festival takes place in Wisbech at places like Wisbech Cemetery and Octavia Hill Birthplace House. It starts tonight and offers the public to show some of their work off to the public.

• A MEDIEVAL fair takes place at Oxborough Hall from tomorrow until Monday, from 11am-4pm.

The day offers the chance to experience life in a 15th century household, including dance, music, games and children's weapon drill and archery sessions. Normal admission applies.

• MORE than 25 stalls will sell a range of produce at a two-day farmers market in Ely, starting tomorrow. It runs from 8am-2pm.

• STONE me! is the name of a tour by Peterborough Museums on Sunday, which will tell of all the mysteries of the city. It starts at 2pm.
