Level 3 Art and Design student Megan Vellam, of Spalding, has had one of her portraits framed by South Holland and The Deepings MP John Hayes in his cabinet office in Westminster.

As part of her course, Megan was asked to draw portraits. In the midst of the Election season, after meeting Mr Hayes, she decided to draw him.

She said: “I wanted to draw a picture of someone who was well respected and not just a celebrity. John Hayes is friendly and always has time for people in his constituency so I chose him.”

Mr Hayes invited Megan to visit his Spalding office. When she presented him with the drawing John fell in love with it and asked to keep the original copy so he could frame it in his office.

The MP later asked Megan to meet him in Westminster where he gave her a tour of the Houses of Parliament and she was able to see her work exhibited on the wall of his cabinet office.
