More than a hundred people took part in a charity workout at the Hudson Centre in Wisbech which raised nearly £1,500 for Alzheimer's Society.

Fitness instructor Lisa Crane organised the event to raise funds to help fight the disease that took her father’s life four years ago.

Lisa and her fellow instructors ran body combat, zumba, pilates and LBT classes and a raffle was held with prices from local businesses including a meal for two, cake vouchers and a fruit and veg box.

Lisa said: “It was an absolutely amazing day. The instructors were fabulous and everyone participated really well.”

The workout raised £1,169 on the day and three of Lisa’s pupils added to the pot by throwing her a surprise 40th birthday party with a difference.

Lisa said: “Three ladies who attend my class, Dee McGlagifh, Gillian Goodchild and Trish Green threw me a surprise party at the White Lion Hotel and charged everyone £3 to attend. They raised £316 and added to the sum from the workout it means I can go to present Alzheimer’s Society with a cheque of £1,485.”

Lisa hopes her fundraising efforts will make a difference to people who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

She said: “I do it to help others who have it now or who may be affected in the future.”
