An engaging talk into the wonder and work behind creating a replica of the Bayeux Tapestry was held at Wisbech Library.
The labour of love by crafter Mia Hansson was put on display at the venue last Thursday (December 6).
Mia Hansson turned her love of craft-making into a mission to recreate a full scale replica of the medieval artwork.
She estimates the project will take more than a decade to complete.
Mia said: “It was a warm and engaging audience and they were so easy to talk to that time disappeared in a flash.
“I managed to display around 12 of the 15 metres I have embroidered so far, giving the audience plenty to look at.
“We covered everything from wool colours to working hours, from image comparisons between my version and the original to future plans for my piece and discussions were held about the ins and outs of the original.
“A big thanks to Wisbech library for giving me access to both conference rooms.”
Mia also takes bookings for talks during events or handicraft groups for the cost of £50 and mileage within a reasonable distance from Wisbech.
You can also follow her journey on Mia’s Bayeux tapestry story on Facebook.
The tapestry tells the story of the future William I’s conquest of England, culminating in the Battle of Hastings and the defeat of Harold in 1066.
