Students and staff at Meadowgate Academy in Wisbech raised more than £300 for Macmillan by holding a coffee morning on September 29.

The fundraiser was organised by the Year 13s in the school’s sixth form who promoted the event through a leaflet drop to local residents and by putting up posters around the school.

Emma Bird, of Meadowgate Academy, said: “The coffee morning was very well supported; from the wonderful donations of cakes from parents, staff and the local community to the arrival of the local Macmillan team and Wisbech Mayor Councillor Steve Tierney.

“A lovely time was had by all and the students raised £311 for the charity which will be used locally.”
