DOZENS of friends of a young man killed on a Fenland road have been rushing to pay tribute to a "lovely, harmless caring guy."

The tribute to 21 year-old James Norton from Kayleigh Ridgway, was one of many posted on the social network site Facebook.

James, of Camargue Drive, March, was the driver of a blue Toyota Corolla which was in collision with a silver Chevrolet Lacetti on the B1101 near Friday Bridge.

Floral tributes and photographs have also been left at the scene with another friend, Sarah Schunmann, describing him as "such a good friend, you were an angel sent down, you looked out for me through thick and thin. I will be forever grateful."

Poignant memories of James scatter a special tribute section on Facebook 'RIP James Norton." By Tuesday it had 120 members with many adding touching comments.

Stuart Toman said he will miss his friend's "smiley face" whilst Victoria Holmes said he was "loved by all and will never be forgotten."

Michael Barnard from London said he had not seen his former Neale Wade friend for a while but he remembered enjoying "great times together."

Trevor Cargill worked with James at Budelpack in March and said he would "always remember our time in the yoghurt bay. It made it worth going into work!"

Darren Meads also once worked with James and described his friend as always "putting other people before yourself which made you such a good person. Every time I saw you in town you had bought some flowers for Monika, you two were so good for each other and my heart goes out to her and the rest of James' family".

Stephanie Mason said she, too, would never forget James who "used to crack me up in the early hours of the morning before our paper rounds. You were always a great laugh and a great friend."

Amelia Stephenson added: "I'll never forget the times we spent, hope you're somewhere better now, you deserve to be."

And Emma W added her special memory on Facebook. "RIP my darling, all the good times at school and the stars never to be forgotten."

Sunday's collision in which James died happened at about 11.15am. The driver of the other car involved, a 60 year old man of Cape Lane, Emneth, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital in Kings Lynn.

Fire crews from Wisbech and Dogsthorpe attended the collision and used specialist cutting equipment to release both casualties from the cars.

Pc Dave Halling, investigating, said: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this collision take place, or saw either of these vehicles in the moments leading up to the collision.

"Any information, no matter how small, could help us to discover how this collision occurred."
