A man who ran three half marathons over three consecutive weekends in memory of his grandfather in law raised £1,550 for North Cambs hospital.
John Cross ran the marathons to say thank you for the care given to Dennis Atkin, who was well known in Wisbech for being the longest serving postman.
The 85-year-old, of Leverington, spent his final weeks in the Trafford Ward at Wisbech Hospital.
The money, which was handed over during a cheque presentation at North Cambs Hospital, will be used to buy two blood pressure monitors and a guest chair that turns into a bed for relatives.
John’s wife, Lisa Cross, said: “He was in the hospital for about six weeks before we lost him and the care he received from the nurses was outstanding.
“My nan Freda wanted to give them a gift and they asked for some garden furniture for their court yard area.”
The family also bought a picnic bench with their grandad’s name on.
• Dennis Atkin was the longest serving Royal Mail colleague, having worked as a postman in Wisbech for 50 years.
