A MAN threatened a female shop assistant with a wooden bat in an attempted robbery in Wisbech.
The offender walked into Mount Pleasant Newsagents, in Edinburgh Drive, and demanded cash at 3pm on Thursday.
He threatened the woman behind the counter with the bat, but fled empty-handed after she shouted for help.
The offender was wearing a scarf covering the lower part of his face. He was wearing a light-grey hooded-top and dark-grey tracksuit bottoms.
Detective Constable Simon Rust, investigating, said: “This was a frightening experience for the member of staff who was threatened with a wooden bat.
“I would appeal to anyone who has any information to contact police.”
Anyone with any information should call DC Rust on 0345 456 456 4 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
