A man had to be freed from his vehicle after a collision with a tree in Sutton Road, Newton, near Wisbech, last night.

“Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to rescue one male casualty, who was left in the care of the ambulance service,” said a Cambs Fire spokesman.

“Two crews from Wisbech were called at 8.39pm and they returned to their station by 11.55pm.”

Earlier in the day, a man in his 60s sustained a serious leg injury after a fall in March.

Magpas doctor Scott Knapp and paramedic Steve Chambers accompanied the man to Peterborough City Hospital via land ambulance where he was in a stable condition upon arrival.

In a separate incident, in the early hours of Monday, crews were called to a deliberate vehicle and skip fire in Hostmoor Avenue, March.
