BURGLARS broke into a widower's home and stole nearly all of his late wife's prized possessions just days after the funeral.

"I can't believe what they've done," said Noel Eastwood of Railway Lane, Long Sutton, near Wisbech.

The haul included all his late wife's jewellery, including watches, gold chains and even her perfume.

Electrical goods, including two TVs, a computer and a Dyson, along with 400 cash were also taken.

Mr Eastwood said: "I'd already lost everything when Patricia went - and now this

"They've taken everything I had to remind me of her. There were gold watches worth a thousand pounds each, her chains and rings and even her makeup. They also took my christening presents that my parents had left me - it's just disgusting. It would have been Patricia's birthday on Saturday - it's very difficult to cope."

This theft took place sometime between 4pm on May 3 and 11.20am on May 4: thieves broke in through a back door and stole about 5,000 worth of goods.

Mr Eastwood's wife died two days after being diagnosed with bone, breast and liver cancer and was buried on Friday May 1.

When Mr Eastwood returned home on Monday, after the funeral and having visited his sister down south, he discovered the break-in.

DC Nicola Stafford Said: "This is a horrific experience for Mr Eastwood and he is clearly devastated. We need anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
