A PE teacher is giving up her time for a few hours a week to give youngsters a chance to try out a range of sports.

Throughout the summer holidays, Liz Thorpe is running sports sessions on Tuesdays at Upwell Playing Field. At the first session, on Tuesday, youngsters tried out tri golf, rounders and short tennis.

Ros Shorting, of the Upwell Playing Fields Committee, said: “Children get bored during the holidays so we decided to run some affordable activity sessions. Liz runs them with the help of her daughter Steph.”

There are two age groups - for eight to 11 year olds, it’s 10am-noon. Five to seven year olds are 2-4pm. Sessions cost £2.50.
