A rainbow of multi-coloured public service vehicles from across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough showed their support and marked the end of LGBT History Month and Fostering and Adoption Week.
Vehicles from local councils and emergency services met to #BeTheRainbow echoing the colours of the Rainbow Flag flown during LGBT History Month. Last week was also LGBT Adoption and Fostering Week which is also supported by local public services.
The vehicles formed up at Alconbury Weald – the former airfield which is being transformed into the new community. Site owners Urban&Civic support Cambridgeshire public services with the use of the former airfield for training.
Cambridgeshire County Council vice chairman, Councillor Mandy Smith, who was at the event said: “Cambridgeshire public services are here to serve all in our communities.
“Many of us show our support during LGBT History Month by flying the rainbow flag. This is the first time we have come together with our colleagues across the county to show through the different colours of our vehicles that we support all in our local area both as organisations and together as public services.
“I’d like to thank everyone who have come along today and shown their support.”
Cambridgeshire county councillor Ed Cearns, who with other public services, signed the Equality Pledge for Cambridgeshire County Council, said: “I would like to thank all public services who have come together to support the various LGBT events throughout February and March.
“It is great that the services and authorities individually back these events and initiatives. But this also sends a powerful message that Cambridgeshire as a whole values and supports the LGBT community and whoever we are , we are all part of the rainbow .”

The vehicles represented all public services but included Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue, Cambridgeshire Constabulary, Cambridgeshire County Council and Huntingdonshire District Council.
