When Leverington youth worker Carly Hain received an invitation to the Royal wedding, she thought it was a scam.

Inside the official-looking envelope was a letter from Norfolk’s Lord Lieutenant, asking if she would like to join guests at Windsor Castle on May 19.

“I couldn’t believe it, the letter said His Royal Highness Prince Henry which I thought was a typo,” said the 25-year-old fangirl.

“I had to Google as I have never heard him called Henry in anything. “The letter looked really posh, I thought it was trying to get me to sign up to something.”

Then it dawned on her that she was one of a select band of special guests invited to join Prince Harry - or Prince Henry of Wales - and Meghan Markle on their big day.

Miss Hain has been volunteering as a lead youth worker for West Norfolk charity Speada for seven years.

She is one of six community heroes nominated by the Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk to be invited to the grounds of Windsor Castle to acknowlege their efforts.

Miss Hain said she was most looking forward to seeing Meghan Markle on the day and described herself as a self-confessed Suits fangirl, adding: “I’m so humbled, it’s amazing.”

She will be taking her boyfriend Josh Whitaker, 24, but would have liked to invite her entire Speada team.

Speada was set up in 2011 and is made up of 40 youth workers and volunteers who run three youth groups in West Norfolk for young people aged between 11-19 years, including disabled people aged up to 25.

Its Friday Club helps its 20 young members enhance their social skills and self-confidence through different activities such as sports, arts and crafts and cooking.

As a trained youth worker, Miss Hain has always wanted to work with young people and so does it voluntarily through the charity whilst also holding down a full time job as an estate agent.

“I absolutely love working with young people and inspiring them, it’s the young people that make it so worthwhile for me. “But I don’t want to take all the credit, I have an amazing team and I want to say thank you to all of them, I feel guilty I can’t take everybody with me.”
