The comedian is to visit the Tower Ballroom in a special afternoon performance, before turning on the town’s Christmas lights at this year’s switch-on extravaganza on Sunday November 29.

The Irishman will take to the stage at 2pm, before making his way to the town centre to switch on the lights at 5.30pm, where live music, a prize draw and festive fun is all on offer.

Free mince pies, a performance from up-and-coming band Phoenix Calling, dancing, carol singers and a chance to meet the cast of the Angles theatre’s ‘The Snow Queen’ is all to look forward to before the big switch on, which is to be hosted by the Mayor and Jimmy Cricket, who says he is excited to be coming to Wisbech.

He said: “I am thrilled to be making the start to my Christmas Season by visiting Wisbech and appearing in this fabulous show. I am especially excited to be teaming up with some great local talent who are led by the exceptionally talented Michele Larkin of Nine Lives Theatre Company, so come along and join me for a bit of Cricket at Christmas to get you in the festive spirit.”

After the switch on, 9 Lives Theatre Company, Lula May and the LJ Academy of Dance will all be showcasing their talents before the winner of the switch-on’s grand prize draw is announced.

Also, in a new feature for this year’s event, youngsters can post their Christmas letters to Santa Claus - and receive a reply from the man himself.
