WISBECH man Leighton Chapman is facing a charge of using an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

It is alleged that he had a ball bearing gun in the town on Saturday, intending to frighten James Davis and Craig Downer.

Chapman, formerly of Wickfield Court, is also accused of possessing a sword during the same incident

The firearms charge can be dealt with only in the Crown Court, and on Wednesday 26-year-old Chapman appeared at Wisbech courthouse and was sent to Cambridge Crown Court.

Now living in Guild Road, Walsoken, Chapman was given bail on condition that he stays away from Wickfield Court and does not contact witnesses.

He is due in the Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on October 16.
