HUGE bales of straw caught alight on sunny afternoon in Christchurch.
About 25 bales were ablaze when fire crews from March and Manea went to the Sixteen Foot Bank at 1.34pm on Sunday (July 4).
And they could not leave until 5.44pm that afternoon as it took fire fighters hours to bring the flames under control.
