A horrifying Halloween ‘Ghoul School’ staged at Wisbech Grammar School saw more than 140 plucky youngsters and their parents enjoy a torchlight tour of the darker sides of the historic school.
The school, founded by the Wisbech Guild of the Holy Trinity in 1379, is one of the oldest schools in the country.
Located in Harecroft House on the historic Georgian North Brink, the setting provided the ideal backdrop for terrifying tours taking in basements and winding staircases, and tales of ghosts that stretch back as far as the 1700s.
The sell-out event, now in its fourth year, sent shivers down the spines of the bravest this Halloween.
Pupils in creepy costume and mortifying make-up applied by school play director Miss Alison Clayton and her talented sixth form team used their skills to provide ghostly thrills.
Mrs Alison Sloan, head of food and nutrition, said: “This annual event is great fun and allows our pupils to showcase their delicious homemade food.”
There was also a fearsome feast of hot dogs and pumpkin soup which was washed down with a blood red brew of cranberry juice, fruit juices and spices.
