Forty-five people were rewarded with views of Ely Cathedral and the Wash at the top of West Walton Church as part of Heritage Day.
Opened to the public for free on Saturday (September 8) among those climbing the church’s bell tower and enjoying the fine weather were adults and young children.
David Badderley, church warden and bell ringer, said: “I wander up and down the tower because people ask questions about the bells.
“The tower is detached from the church and in the care of the new conservation trust.
“We’ve opened it for free on heritage day for several years now. We open the tower for people to have the chance to climb to the top and ask people to make a contribution to the trust.
“The helpers are all volunteers from the village, the National Grid loaned us the lighting and there were refreshments all day,” he added.
Liz Nice, church warden, organised the event.
