A WALSOKEN pensioner is desperately seeking help to replace the missing piece of his treasured school photograph.
Brian Burton, of Trinity Road, is among a small number of pupils who cannot be seen on the damaged snap. He is now hoping to find someone with the complete image of the 1950s Queens Secondary School, now Thomas Clarkson Community College, in order to end 20 years of searching to reinstate the lost corner.
Mr Burton said: “The photo was given to me as a gift from a man called Mr Horsebole who worked in Norton’s Seed Shop on the old market. That corner has always been missing.
“I had the picture framed even though I always knew me and a few others had disappeared from it. I’m ideally looking for someone who has the original photo in good condition with me included so I can copy it for myself and then return the photo.”
Mr Burton was about 13 years old when the photograph was taken and nearly missed being included after injuring himself in the rush to get a good position.
“Before the photo was taken I hurt my ankle and nearly missed it anyway,” said Mr Burton.

“Everyone had got ready for the big photo and I injured myself. I then got dumped right in the corner at the front. It’s a part of my history that’s now missing especially as I did make it into the picture eventually.
After recently celebrating his Golden Wedding anniversary with wife Janet, Mr Burton is now hoping that the couple can have another reason to celebrate soon.
He said: “I’ve always wanted to get the complete version and that’s the corner I need but I can’t find it anywhere. I want to get it sorted and we’ll be extremely pleased once it has been. I’m just hoping that someone can help.”
