Two of Fenland’s finest green spaces have cemented their national reputation by yet again winning awards.
For the seventh straight year, Wisbech Park and St Peter’s Church Gardens have gained Green Flag Awards from the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.
The Green Flag Awards are judged by volunteer experts who visit applicant sites and assess them against eight strict criteria, including horticultural standards, cleanliness, sustainability and community involvement.
Councillor Peter Murphy, Fenland District Council’s Cabinet member responsible for parks and open spaces, said: “This is just reward for all the hard work put in by our own parks team, our grounds maintenance contractors The Landscape Group and all the volunteers from the Friends and In Bloom groups.
“Once again they have done a fantastic job over the whole year.”
