Students and staff did hair styling, manicures, nail art, beauty treatments and leg waxing to raise more than £900 for a cancer charity.

Hairdressing, beauty therapy and nail technology students at College of West Anglia Isle campus, and their King’s Lynn colleagues, held a Give the Sparkle Back week of fundraising events in aid of Look Good, Feel Better.

They also put on a cake sale, a guess the number of sweets in a jar completion and Christmasgrams, where, for a donation, harmonious hairdressers sang Christmas songs to chosen recipients.

Their efforts raised £929.14 for the charity which supports women struggling with the side effects from cancer treatment. They provide free skincare and make-up workshops, which are held in more than 70 hospitals and cancer care centres throughout the UK.

Curriculum support manager for Hair and Beauty, Jannette Cook said: “The staff and students really got behind the event and their generosity has been overwhelming.”
