WINDOW fitter Joshua Capel was held in custody for three weeks after failing to answer bail to a charge of drink-driving in Lynn Road, Wisbech, on August 19.

He was again caught on September 16 in West Street, Wisbech, and was remanded in custody until admitting to three drinkdriving charges at Fenland Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Capel, of Shepherd's Gate, Tilney All Saints, pleaded guilty to both charges, as well as a third charge of drinkdriving in Gravel Bank, Magdelene, on July 2.

Anita Waterman, defending, said: "He has spent three weeks in prison for the first time in his life and he does not like it one bit.

"He is finding it extremely difficult and has considered it to be a real wake-up call."

The court heard how Capel, who also has one previous conviction for driving with excess alcohol, was followed by police officers while driving a Ford Fiesta on July 2, and arrested after failing a breath test. A reading showed 62 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is

35mcg.

Capel was then seen on CCTV on August 19, riding a Kawasaki motorcycle which was swaying across the road. When stopped by police, he again failed a breath test and returned a reading of 55mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.

And after absconding bail conditions, Capel was caught above the drink-drive limit in a Volkswagen Golf on September 16, giving another reading of 62mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath. He was remanded in custody to prevent him from reoffending.

Capel was given a conditional bail, to report to Wisbech Police Station every Tuesday, Thursday and

Saturday evening and live at Flat A, The Churchills, Norfolk Street, Wisbech, until his hearing on October 25.
