A TESCO security guard, who was run over as he tried to stop a shoplifter escaping, was awarded £100 compensation by magistrates this week.
Raymond Woods attempted to pull Tony Taylor from a Ford Fiesta van, and when Taylor's foot slipped from the clutch, Mr Woods was hit by the vehicle.
Taylor, 33, of Southwell Road, Wisbech, had earlier admitted failing to stop after the accident in the supermarket car park on January 20, driving while disqualified and without insurance, and stealing £24.42 worth of meat.
On Wednesday Fenland magistrates gave Taylor a three-month jail sentence, suspended for 18 months. They imposed a drug rehabilitation order, banned him from driving for 36 months, and ordered him to pay £60 costs.
