TESCO has been given permission to expand its store in Sandown Road, Wisbech.
Fenland District Council's planning committee approved the company's plans which will see provision of traffic lights at the Sandown Road/Cromwell Road junction and a new roundabout at the junction with the link road to the Macdonalds restaurant and Brantano shoe store.
The project will also result in an additional 2,381 square metres of floor space added to the store, the number of parking spaces increased from 376 to 486 and the relocation of the petrol filling station and car wash.
Councillor Ray German said at Wednesday's committee meeting: "It will be fantastic for business," and Councillor Peter Murphy added: "Tesco must believe in the growth of Wisbech to put so much investment into it.
