THERE'S nothing more enjoyable than enjoying a meal prepared by someone else.

But when the pennies are tight, the thought of going out for a meal may be put off, for fear of breaking the bank.

However at the Black Bear in Old Lynn Road, Wisbech, your money will go a long way and you are guaranteed a delightful meal to remember.

As well as the 75-seater air conditioned restaurant the pub also offers a traditional family environment and something for everyone such as darts and pool.

But predominately it is the wide-choice of delicious meals, which ensures that the customers return time and time again.

The pub has been run for the last four years by husband and wife team Joe and Debbie Hill.

They promise and deliver quality food and a "great pub experience". Their menus are traditional based on good old fashioned dishes, which never fail to impress.

And in times, when money is tight, you need to know you are getting good value.

All their meals are freshly prepared, and the food is sourced locally wherever possible.

The food is cooked by chef Melvin Slow who has been at the pub with Joe and Debbie since the beginning, and has years of experience working in well-known establishments locally.

Prices vary at the venue and include a carvery on Wednesdays for just 5.95.

Lunch and evening meals are served Wednesday to Saturday and are all reasonably priced.

Meals on the menu and special boards include a host of traditional favourites such as steak, chicken breast, lamb shanks, curries and so much more. There is also a choice for vegetarians.

On Sunday a traditional carvery is on offer with a choice of three or four meats and an array of vegetables - sometimes more than eight different mouth-watering delights to choose from and all at the very good value of 7.95.

Desserts are just 2.95.

There is so much to enjoy at the venue, you really need to just give it a try.

The pub is closed on Monday and open Tuesday from 6pm, but food is not served.
