The bull escaped in Fen Dyke Lane, Gorefield, near Wisbech, at around 10 am and police were called by passers by who felt it posed a risk to safety.
Ninety minutes later the bull was dead after marksman using rifles had been called from police headquarters at Huntingdon.
Roads in the area were cordoned off after the bull fled and went on the rampage in an adjoining field where it was later killed by police.

"The animal was considered a potential danger to the public and to motorists," said a police spokesman. "It was shot at 11.35am."
The spokesman added that such incidents, although not common, did happen occasionally and police had procedures to deal with it.
