National charity Go Kids Go is running a free wheelchair skills workshop at St Peter’s Junior School, Wisbech this Saturday, February 13.

The training, which takes place just once a year, is open to all young wheelchair users throughout the region.

Go Kids Go, who aim to encourage ‘independence through mobility’, is a national charity that provides free training courses for young wheelchair users throughout the UK and Ireland.

Roy Wild, training manager, said: “Back wheel balancing (so that you can go up and down kerbs independently) and games like wheelchair basketball and wheelchair dance are among the skills featured in the workshop.

“We bring extra wheelchairs so mums, dads and siblings can get involved and join in the games.

“Our patron, TV presenter Ade Adeptian was one of the first young wheelchair users to come on one of our courses, some years ago and he is now a great role model for a lot of the children.”

The workshop will be held from 9.30am until 3pm. For more information, call Roy Wild: 01482 887163.
