REMEMBRANCE Day was a special day at Glenfield Care Centre in Wisbech when residents held their own act of remembrance and marked the first anniversary of the opening of the centre.
During a coffee morning for residents, visitors and staff the two minutes silence was observed and the fallen of two world wars and more recent conflicts were remembered.
A birthday party followed in the afternoon and Councillor Jonathan Farmer who had opened the centre last year when he was mayor of Wisbech gave a speech. Current mayor Councillor Yvonne Lawrence cut a cake made in the shape of and decorated like a poppy.
There was entertainment and Julie Wisbech sang songs which transported residents back through the decades.
At the end of the day a donation was presented to representatives of the Royal British Legion.
