THERE were book characters galore at a Fenland primary school when pupils and staff celebrated World Book Day.
The lower school at St Peter’s Junior School in Wisbech took the story of Peter Pan as its theme with activities based around treasure chests and maps. There were lots of pirate hats and Peter Pan himself.
Jayne Hill, the school’s literacy co-ordinator, who made her own mermaid costume, said: “The children were asked to dress as their favourite characters but really think hard to come up with something different and we certainly had lots of different characters.
“The whole day was really to celebrate our love of reading and encouraging the children to love books and to get involved.”
