ZULU warriors and filipino dancers were just some of the acts that helped Wisbech to celebrate its diversity at the town’s fourth annual Bring and Share Multicultural Festival.
The Brink and the Chatteris Brass Band also performed in front of a crowd of about 1,000 people who attended to help highlight the variety of people and cultures within the Fenland town.
There was a hiccup when Fenland District Council closed the toilets in Wisbech Park, where the event on Sunday (August 5) was held, because there was no soap or loo rolls available.
“The Town Council was able to step in and open them up in time for the Festival,” Wisbech Town Council clerk Erbie Murat said.
Mayor Vivien McRae also showed her fighting spirit by taking part in taekwondo activities just days ahead of the sport’s showing in the London 2012 Olympic Games, whereas volunteers cooked an array of food from different cultures.
“A great time was had by all,” Mr Murat added.
