MAYOR of Wisbech, Councillor David Oliver, distributed £4,000 to local organisations on Friday.
The money from the Mayor's Charity has been collected during the past year from a number of fund raising events. A trophy was also given to Wisbech Town Cricket Club for it to award each year.
St Peter's Church, Wisbech, has also received a cheque but was unable to attend the presentation.
In addition to the Mayor's Charity, Wisbech Town Council allocates around £10,000 each year to its community grants budget which are awarded in September and distributed in April.
Councillors and clerk Erbie Murat are working directly with dozens of organisations in Wisbech to give help and support.
