Sunday's event at The Braza Club, March attracted about 80 people, featured a performance from Dave Whitmore and raised 613.03.

It was organised by Wisbech couple Clarence and Jenny Lakey who have arranged country music shows in Fenland for 27 years and currently run sessions every Sunday at The Braza Club.

Mr Lakey said: "We've done several fund-raising events in the past. One of our regular dancers, named Cliff Howard, was treated after suffering a heart attack this year and he asked if we could do something to raise money for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he was treated.

"We were happy to do it and it went very well."
