An afternoon of music and dancing helped raise around £600 for a Wisbech care home.

Glenfields held its annual summer fayre which featured the singing talents of local musician Bondy.

Also there were craft stalls, tombola, raffle, games and refreshments.

Katie Doiley, activity coordinator, said: “Residents had a lovely time a lot of them got up and enjoyed dancing to the music. The amount raised was brilliant.”

A football match will take place in Gorefield on Thursday (16) to raise money for Glenfields in memory of the late Chris Turner who was a former resident.

Mr Turner was a former Peterborough United player and manager. He died at the home in April age 64.

He had battled against dementia for eight years.

Turner played 364 times for Posh between 1969 and 1978, mostly as a centre-back. He scored 43 goals.

He returned to manage Posh in January 1991 and promptly led the team to back-to-back promotions and a place in the second tier of English football for the first time in the club’s history.

He went onto to become chairman and then owner of the football club.
