A FREE Chlamydia screening service visits the Horsefair Shopping Centre in Wisbech at the weekend - with shoppers able to get quick results via text message.

People aged 16-25 can take advantage of the confidential sexual health service offered by the Cambridgeshire Chlamydia Screening Programme.

Members of the programme will be at the Horsefair bus station from 10am-5pm on Saturday offering the quick tests to young shoppers.

Those interested in taking a test will be asked to provide a urine sample or self-taken swab - which can be obtained using the centre’s toilet facilities.

They will also need to provide their contact details and they will receive a text with their results within two weeks.

Zoe Garner, Chlamydia screening outreach team leader, said: “Our aim is to test more young people in the Wisbech area. Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections amongst males and females aged between 16 and 25.

“In addition to the testing, there will be a wealth of information on sexual health and plenty of freebies up for grabs.”

Kevin Smith, manager of the Horsefair, said: “I am very pleased to be supporting this initiative which will help to raise awareness for Chlamydia in Wisbech and the surrounding areas.”
