FIREFIGHTERS from Wisbech came to the rescue of a horse trapped in a water filled dyke on Tuesday.
The horse, called Arnie, fell into the dyke at Molls Drove, Friday Bridge, taking his rider with him.
Although shaken and wet, the rider was unharmed but Arnie was stuck on his side suffering from cold and exhaustion.
Under the guidance of a vet, the fire-fighters used some farm machinery to rescue the horse. A rescue vehicle from Dogsthorpe also attended the scene.
Watch manager Matt Murdoch from Wisbech said: "It was a tricky rescue as the horse was in the water and his behaviour was unpredictable as he was very scared.
"We managed to get him out using farm machinery and once rescued he was given a full check up by the vet. Thankfully he suffered no ill effects from the accident and it up and about as normal again.
